Self drive to Loire Valley.
On your way to Fontevraud, stop along the Loire river and explore the charming villages of Candes Saint Martin and Montsoreau. Both located on the river bank, it is very pleasant to walk around and admire the beautiful limestone houses, the narrow little alleys and get a look at Montsoreau castle from the outside. A good introduction to Loire Valley beauties.
Later, check-in your 4* hotel in Fontevraud. It is within the abbey grounds that you will spend the night! The Abbey itself is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and it is a really unique experience to spend a night or more in its 4* hotel. At night, you will be able to walk along the Abbey and draw inspiration from its thousand-year-old heritage and immerse yourself in its unique atmosphere. The rooms offer a warm design which combines quietness, comfort and elegance.
Before your dinner, enjoy a guided tour of the abbey and understand the history of this unique site housing the tombs of Henry 2nd, Eleanor of Aquitaine and Richard the Lionheart.
Dinner will be served in the wine bar chapel. For an extra fee you might want to book a table in the Michelin starred restaurant.
Overnight in the hotel.
Self drive few kilometres away from the abbey and arrive in a beautiful château wine estate.
Meet with the winemaker and enjoy a tour of the estate. Famous for its Cabernet Franc and Chenin blanc, you will get to know more about the vines work and the winemaking process. Tour the vines and the impressive cellar, where the wines are aged in oak casks. The visit will be followed by a wine tasting in an historic tasting room.
For your lunch, you will get the chance to choose a bottle of wine and to enjoy a gouremet picnic by the vineyard.
In the afternoon, drive a few kilometres away to Chinon medieval town. Wander through the picturesque streets and alleys up to the fortress where you will discover a panoramic view over the Vienne river and the town.
Evening at leisure to enjoy your unusual stay in the Loire Valley.

On your final day in the Loire Valley, drive to Saumur.
Enjoy a guided tour of a famous sparkling wine house. You will discover its impressive underground cave and enjoy a wine tasting. Before driving back home, stop in the town centre and wander through the charming streets and alleys. If you go up to the Castle you will get the chance to enjoy a fantastic view over the Loire river and the little town.
